There were only 505 Dodge Daytonas produced, all created in mid-1969 to legalize parts for circle track racing. All were built by subcontractor Creative Industries using brand-new deluxe Charger R/T models as the basis, meaning that most Charger optional equipment was also available. Here, the car features the matching-numbers 440 CI/375 HP V-8 Magnum big-block Chrysler engine, featuring a 4-barrel Carter carburetor, free-flowing dual exhaust and highway manners courtesy of the Daytona’s mandatory cooling components and suspension parts. This car was optioned with the A33 Track Pak, meaning it also received the A833 New Process 4-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 differential with SureGrip and 3.55 final gearing and also came with both power steering and power brakes.
Little needs to be stated about the body, which is instantly recognizable. The deck wing, nosecone, front fender air extractors, functional hood pins and A-pillar chrome are here, and its Hemi Orange paint makes for a strong presentation, especially with the body-colored steel wheels now mounted on it (14-inch road wheels were the OEM versions). Inside, the car was optioned with bucket seats and the center buddy seat/armrest in place of a console. There is the wood-knob Hurst floor shifter, padded dash with clock and 150 MPH speedometer, a tinted windshield, and the factory Music Master AM radio with optional rear seat speaker. A stickered spare and both jacks are in the trunk and the car now rides on redline tires. Want to turn heads? This is your car.
