Description
This 2018 McLaren MSO X is the third of ten examples inspired by the 570S GT4 race car and produced by McLaren Special Operations. A plaque on the center console states that this MSO X is the third of ten examples produced. It is finished in a Mexico Blue and White Jacadi livery over an Alcantara interior, and MSO X-specific features include a functional roof snorkel, carbon fiber bodywork, front dive planes, a Titanium Super Sports exhaust, and a rear wing. A twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the car is also equipped with the McLaren Track Telemetry system, carbon fiber fixed-back seats, six-point harnesses, a carbon bulkhead with helmet storage system, and more. The MSO X, so named for the ten cars commissioned through McLaren Newport Beach in California, was based on a heavily modified version of the 570S coupe. McLaren Special Operations painted each car in a unique theme, and all were delivered to their owners at an event held at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada. This example is finished in a Mexico Blue and White Jacadi livery. Carbon fiber body components include the functional F1 GT Longtail-style roof snorkel, the hood, rear diffuser, canards, and a rear wing that provides 220 pounds of downforce. The car is also equipped with power folding mirrors, rain sensing wipers, parking sensors, a Vehicle Lift system, LED headlights, and dihedral doors. Double-staggered wheels measure 19 in front and 20 in the rear and are finished in white, while the Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are 225/35 and 285/35 respectively. The suspension features McLaren Active Damping, and braking is handled by Mexico Blue calipers paired with carbon ceramic rotors. The Alcantara-trimmed interior features carbon fiber fixed-back seats with six-point harnesses. Additional equipment includes a raised carbon fiber center console, a fire extinguisher mounted to the passenger floor, the McLaren Entertainment System with navigation, and a carbon bulkhead with helmet storage. Three cameras are also mounted around the car as part of the McLaren Track Telemetry system, which allows drivers to analyze real-time lap data. The twin-turbocharged M838T V8 displaces 3.8 liters and features all aluminum construction and dry sump lubrication. Factory-rated output was 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Driver aids include the Brake Steer system, stability control, and launch control. A lightweight Titanium Super Sports exhaust was also standard on the MSO X. Additional carbon intakes routed through the front hood were unique to the MSO X and aided in directing air to the roof-mounted snorkel. The signature of James Banks, former head of Bespoke Cars at McLaren Special Operations, adorns the front trim piece. A copy of the window sticker lists production data, factory colors, optional equipment, and a total price of $400,000, including the $205,000 MSO Project X package.
